Senior SysOps Engineer

See Tickets is one of Europe's largest online ticket retail destinations, providing a variety of branded and unbranded ticketing services for clients such as Glastonbury Festivals, English Heritage, Houses of Parliament, Universal Music and the BBC. The job

We're looking for a Senior SysOps Engineer who gets excited by the prospect of working on business-critical, high-load transactional systems. You bring your expertise in managing an environment built largely on Microsoft and VMware technologies, but equally important are your skills in analysing complex issues, building out monitoring solutions and planning and performing upgrades to keep our platform up to date. It doesn't stop there as you will also work on:

- Managing and supporting our infrastructure in both on-prem and cloud environments
- Making sure components are optimised for availability & performance
- Deep diving into security features to ensure security of our systems and data
- Automating manual or repetitive tasks as much as possible, for example with SCORCH;
- Handling both BAU activities and project work
- Ensuring system stability during extreme peaks - capacity demands can increase 100-fold in a matter of minutes.

Requirements

- You're ready to get things done and have at least 5 years in a similar role, or longer doing 2nd/3rd line support
- You have a thorough understanding of scalable web systems
- You have deep understanding of Windows Server and Domain Infrastructure including AD DS, DNS, NPS, DFS, GPO, PKI
- You're well-versed in managing VMware server virtualisation or another production-ready Hypervisor utilising enterprise grade features (SAN, HA, vMotion, Fault-Tolerance, clustering etc).
- You're familiar with managing applications running dot.Net 4.8 or dot.Net Core under IIS
- You're on top of networking and connectivity, including BGP, LACP;
- You're an advocate for security topics, including threat analysis, secrity scanning - setup and analysis of results;
- You're no stranger to scripting and automation in PowerShell or similar;
- You've cut your teeth on monitoring systems such as SCOM, Splunk and the TIG stack, and driven their use

Desirables

- Hands-on experience with traffic management or load balancing systems
- Experience of managing workloads in the public cloud (Azure or AWS)
- Good understanding of Linux operating systems
- Crash dump analysis
- Experience with PostgreSQL / MSSQL
- Familiarity with Redis and Elastic Search
- Experience mentoring and training others
